Moggach Stephen

Dr Stephen Moggach did his PhD under the supervision of Professor Simon Parsons at the University of Edinburgh, studying the effect of pressure on amino acids. He then did a postdoc in the same group studying the effect of pressure on single-molecule magnets. Currently, Stephen is a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry and Royal Society of Edinburgh/Scottish Government Personal Research Fellow, working in the School of Chemistry and the Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions (CSEC) at The University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on applying high-pressure to metal organic framework (MOF) materials. Through development of high-pressure techniques and study of porous materials at pressure, he was awarded the CCDC Prize for Younger Scientists in 2010, and the European High-Pressure Research Group Award in 2012. Stephen has been the diversity and equality representative for the chemistry department over the past 2 years. In this role, he recently led the successful application for the school of chemistry to achieve an Athena SWAN Gold award, only the second department to ever have achieved such an award
